Channings Hotel

Channings, the friendliest hotel in Edinburgh where you'll enjoy country style tranquillity in a city setting and be charmed by our people.
During your stay you will be accommodated in one of our 41 individually decorated bedrooms, you may wish to choose a room offering a slipper roll top bath or a Jacuzzi (big enough for two!). Rooms are striking yet elegant, tailored and classic, with a combination of textured fabrics such as linen, silk, suede and velvet and deep, rich colours - providing comfortable and relaxing surroundings.
As well as being a delightful home from home, Channings boasts a famous form resident, the intrepid polar explorer, Sir Ernest Shackleton who lived here from 1904 until 1910. The uppermost floor of the hotel have now been renovated in a maritime style in recognition of Sir Ernest Shackleton's endeavours, with portholes along the corridors and an Edwardian theme running throughout the room décor. Enjoy viewing some of his memorabilia on show during your visit.
Many of the rooms offer breath-taking views of Edinburgh, while others over-look the private gardens (which are yours to enjoy in the warmer months as well as a sun terrace which captures the sun all day)!
During your stay experience great food and flavoursome wine in a warm and welcoming ambience in Channings Restaurant. Our team of chefs has developed an impressive repertoire of modern and exciting dishes, which culminates in a menu focusing on seasonality and high quality, organic produce.
Alternatively, relax in our vibrant wine bar and enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail, a light lunch or sit down to a meal from our extensive bar menu - a great place to meet at any time of day!
