Fairnie House

Fairnie House is a lovely old centrally situated Georgian townhouse. The name "Fairnie" is taken from the earliest title deeds of the property where the first recorded owner was Isobel Fairnie. The house is a 'C' listed building dating from c.l750.
All bedrooms are on the ground floor and have TV, central heating, hair dryers and tea/coffee making facilities. Two bedrooms have en-suite facilities while the third has its own private shower room across the hall. A stone staircase leads up to the first floor where we have the guests' dining room.
The central location of Fairnie House is perfect for all that St Andrews has to offer. The Abbey ruins are only 200 metres away, The Byre theatre and restaurant is a near neighbour while the old working harbour and East Sands beach can be reached within 5-10 minutes. Restaurants, shops and the Tourist Information Centre are all within easy reach and the famous Golf Links will only take a very interesting15 minutes walk to reach.
Situation
Fairnie House is on a main road and traffic can be heavy at peak times. However, all bedrooms are double glazed which softens the impact of traffic noise during these periods. The central location means that all amenities from historical sites through to shopping and dining out are all close at hand.
Parking
There is limited free parking directly outside the B & B but these spaces are usually occupied during business hours. It is possible to load/unload and then park elsewhere. There are one or two streets within walking distance as well as the harbour, about 5-10 mins away where parking is free. There is also one dedicated space directly outside for blue badge holders. Paid parking is charged at 70p per hour (2 hour max) and restrictions are in force Mon-Sat from 9-5pm.
Dining out
St Andrews is a cosmopolitan town and this is reflected in the numerous cafes and restaurants, which offer something for all tastes and budgets. It is worth noting that booking is probably essential at peak times, especially during graduation, prestigious golf tournaments and high summer.
Shopping
The usual 'high street' shops are available in nearby Market Street. There are also many privately owned stores offering more unusual and different clothes, gifts and foodstuffs and these are well worth checking out. The local tourist office is only five minutes walk away and as well as offering information on local amenities and events, they also have a great selection of Scottish themed gifts.
