Welcome to Claymore, the ideal setting whether you are a walker, cyclist, golfer or just want a relaxing break. We think the Claymore can offer you excellent value for money. We are located in the centre of Duns so within 5 minutes you are out in the middle of beautiful countryside.
Our main attraction is our dining room, which is decorated as a 1950's American Diner and not what you would expect to find in the Scottish countryside.
Our bedrooms are themed in their design, one furnished like a Scottish country castle and the other with Titanic memorabilia. The bedrooms have coffee/tea making facilities, TV and DVD. Families are welcome and we are a totally non smoking establishment.
We offer a full Scottish Breakfast and can also arrange a 3 course evening meal eg.
Soup or Orange Juice
Steak Pie, Chicken in a cream and mushroom sauce, both served with potatoes or chips and vegetables. Chilli Con Carne with rice or Lasagne with salad.
Dessert, Tea or Coffee
Most dishes are homemade - not out of a packet.
Duns is a small town that boasts two castles frequently used as wedding venues. The town is home to the Jim Clark Museum and the Jim Clark Memorial Rally is run usually in the first week of July. Leisure facilities include a bowling green, swimming pool, park and 18 hole golf course.
Fishing - Licences can be obtained in Duns for local rivers.
Golfing - as well as our own course in Duns, several other courses are within easy reach such as Eyemouth, Kelso and Goswick.
Walkers paradise - there are many pleasant walks around the Duns Castle Estate; the Pennine Way finishes 25 miles away and the Southern Upland Way passes within 10 miles.
Cycling - a good network of quiet roads and off road tracks plus 12 miles from the Tweed cycleway.
Beaches at Berwick-Upon-Tweed, Eyemouth and Coldingham are within easy reach. Close to Coldingham is the St Abbs Nature Reserve with many coastal walks and diving centre.
The 4 Borders Abbeys are all within easy reach - Kelso, Dryburgh, Melrose and Jedburgh.
