Alternatively, if you are a keen angler, the farm is situated in the middle of the Upper Nithsdale beat of the River Nith and fishing permits can be arranged for you – just ask when booking. You can also take advantage of the first-class walking trails nearby. Scotland's coast-to-coast footpath (212 miles long) from Portpatrick to Cockburnpath passes nearby and there are many other less ambitious walks within easy reach, including the farm trail where you can safely see the animals and try to spot the wealth of wildlife in the area.
In pretty Sanquhar, go swimming at the leisure centre, play a round on the challenging golf course and indulge in delicious food from the cosy cafés, traditional pubs and quality restaurants.
