The Rowans Bed & Breakfast - Images
Centrally located for exploring magical Skye
The Rowans is located in the village of Portnalong, near to Carbost on the Minginish Peninsula. We are 20 minutes from Sligachan and Glenbrittle, and from our central location you can reach all parts of Skye within an hour.
Your own private annexe
Unlike most B & B's, you have your own private annexe with a separate entrance, so you can come and go as you please. You are welcome to use our patio and garden.
Luxury room with private bathroom
We have one room which can be configured as a double or twin. With your own shower room and every convenience provided, your comfort after a hard day sightseeing or in the hills is assured.
Your own kitchen/diner for flexibility and privacy
No regimented meal times or choosing menus the night before - we provide ample fresh food for continental breakfast and packed lunches in your own fully equipped kitchen/diner. Home cooked evening meals are available on request.
Peace and quiet a long way from the city
Situated near Loch Harport, Portnalong offers peace and quiet a world away from the noise and bustle of the city. From the hill above the house you can see the Outer Hebrides, North Skye and the Cuillins.
Rugged beauty in every direction
Skye's magical Fairy Pools waterfalls are a short drive to nearby Glenbrittle, and an enjoyable walk to the foot of the Cuillins.
Deserted villages still speak
A challenging walk over a mile from the nearest road at nearby Eynort takes you to beautiful Tusdale, once referred to as the capital of Skye. The empty houses and walls bear witness to sad times in Skye's past.
Spectacular coastlines
A short walk from Fiskavaig, just beyond Portnalong, takes you to Talisker Bay and a spectacular coastline with views south towards Canna and Rum.
Skye - the home of stunning sunsets
The midsummer sun setting late over McLeod's Tables in North Skye, and rising again a couple of hours later, is an unforgettable experience.
The perfect place to unwind
This picture of the moon rising over the Cuillins was taken at the same time as the sunset above, looking south from Cnoc Glas Heilla at Portnalong.
We look forward to welcoming you soon!
