Glenapp Castle

Owners Graham and Fay Cowan have painstakingly restored Glenapp Castle to its former glory, after years of neglect.
Opened to guests in 2000, the castle is now a member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux Association and rightly recognised as one of Scotland's finest country house hotels.
The castle is a spectacular example of the 'Scottish Baronial' style of architecture, set in magnificent private gardens and grounds high on a hill looking out over the Irish Sea to Arran, Ailsa Craig and the Mull of Kintyre. All of the original character and atmosphere of this spectacular Victorian stately home has been retained and every room has been individually decorated in traditional style and furnished with carefully chosen fine antique furniture and original art. The 30 acres of grounds have also been restored to provide a magical expanse of glorious gardens and woodland, of particular appeal being the two and a half acre walled garden with its many unusual specimens and an impressive 150ft Victorian glasshouse. Guests may spend rewarding moments strolling through the terraced formal gardens or play croquet on the lawn, or in more energetic mode, tennis on the all-weather tennis court. Dining each evening at the castle is a peerless experience with the finest cuisine created by skilled and professional team and complemented by carefully selected wines from the castle cellars.
The surrounding Ayrshire and Galloway countryside is ruggedly beautiful with many places of interest for guests to visit.
Glenapp is open to individual guests from mid March until 2nd January with the exception of Christmas week. The castle is also available for exclusive use reservations throughout most of the year and in this guise becomes a wildly romantic setting for weddings and a relaxing retreat for sporting breaks and corporate entertaining.
