Nestled in its own picturesque estate close to the Galloway Forest Park, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright and Dalbeattie, this luxurious, multi award-winning country house provides an excellent base for exploring.

Winners of the Macallan Taste of Scotland Award because of the sumptuous meals, and once voted eighth in the Guardian’s 10 Best B&B’s in Britain, this tastefully converted 18th century farm steading guarantees an indulgent and fabulous stay.

The property has seven individually-themed en suite bedrooms which are striking in style with great attention to detail and comfort. You can be transported back to an earlier age in the opulently decorated Victorian Suite, with its grandfather and grandmother brass twin beds, or relax in the bright and airy Scandinavian Suite with its clean lines, simple colours, and six-foot interlocking twin bed. Alternatively, unwind in the tranquil retreat of the Chinese Suite, revel in the grandeur of the Traditional Scottish Suite, enjoy the flamboyancy of the Creole Suite, be inspired by the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Suite, or why not enjoy a small taste of the exotic, as you sip eastern tea in the luxurious corner bath of the Indian Suite?

Craigadam is renowned for its delicious, home cooked and often home produced organic meals which are all served in the elegant oak panelled dining room. Set yourself up for the day with a freshly prepared full Scottish breakfast or enjoy one of the tasty lighter options. In the evening, dine on the estate-produced smoked partridge or pheasant on a tangy root salad, or try the skewers of organic lamb in a Sulwath reduction - the menu changes regularly but you can be sure the options are always indulgent and mouth-wateringly delicious. Afterwards, retire to the billiard room to enjoy a nightcap from the well-stocked honesty bar, or relax in the drawing room in front of the warming log fire.

Sporting access to 25,000 acres makes this a great place to enjoy a shooting, fishing or wildlife-watching break. You are also within easy access of the Galloway Forest Park, with its 300 square miles of beautiful green forest, heather-clad hills, wealth of wildlife and two of the 7stanes mountain biking centres, Glentrool and Kirroughtree. At night, it is also one of the best spots in the UK for stargazing with the naked eye, as it’s the first Dark Sky Park in the UK and one of only two in Europe.
