Bluehill Farmhouse

'Bluehill' is a working dairy farm set in 64 hectares, surrounded by beautiful picturesque scenery of Auchencairn Bay (two miles away) and the hills of Bengairn and Screel to the rear. The village of Auchencairn is three quarters of a mile away and can be walked in 15/20 minutes. Aileen is very happy to supply a free lift to/from the village in the evenings to allow guests to enjoy a drink with their supper in the Smugglers Inn (please arrange in advance). Auchencairn lies 12 miles from the fishing/artist town of Kirkcudbright and 10 miles from the busy market town of Castle Douglas. The village has a garage, pub, post office/shop and hotel.

'Bluehill' offers you excellent value for money. The rooms are all decorated to a very high standard and fully equipped. Central heating throughout. Two rooms are en-suite with the third having private facilities. The largest room has twin zip and link beds which form a super king-size double. The guests have sole use of the Conservatory and the garden invites visitors to sit and relax.

Around Auchencairn there are several coastal walks along cliff-tops or alternatively the hills of Bengairn and Screel offer spectacular views. You may enjoy a walk out across the sand to Heston Island when the tide is out. The village has a bowling green. Mountain biking is available at Dalbeattie Forest (10 miles away), Mabie Forest (16 miles away), Kirroughtree Forest approximately 20 miles, forming part of the 7 Stanes bike route.
