Cromlet Hill Guest House

Cromlet Hill provides spacious and elegant accommodation in a small, listed, Georgian country house, set in large but secluded gardens within the conservation area of Oldmeldrum.
Oldmeldrum is an ancient Burgh created in 1672 and its narrow streets still retain the irregular plan of a medieval town from an even earlier era. It is set in rolling farmland with views to Bennachie and the Grampian hills beyond. It makes an ideal base for exploring the Northeast of Scotland, famous for its mountain scenery, castles and distilleries. Oldmeldrum has its own working distillery and golf course. Golf, fishing, shooting and other outdoor pursuits can be arranged locally. Skiing is only an hour away at the Lecht. Fyvie Castle, perhaps the grandest example of Scottish baronial architecture, Haddo House, the William Adam designed seat of the Earls of Aberdeen and the famous formal gardens at Pitmedden are all within a five mile radius of Cromlet Hill.
The businessman and the discerning tourist alike will find comfort and character with a high level of facilities at Cromlet Hill. Conveniently situated some 15 minutes from Aberdeen Airport and 30 minutes from the City centre, Cromlet Hill could give you a relaxed ending to the business day; the perfect start to a Highland touring holiday or the ideal base to explore the Northeast of Scotland.
Cromlet Hill was built circa 1805. The main part of the house has the elegant proportions typical of the Georgian period with a classical Porch and Pavilions to either side. Most of the original features are retained, inside and out and the house is furnished and decorated in sympathetic style. For most of the early history the house was owned by a prominent local family, the Mansons. Sir Patrick, born and raised in the house founded the London School of Tropical Medicine and contributed much of the conquest of Malaria.
