Rivendell - Dumfries
Rivendell is a striking arts and crafts mansion set in substantial mature grounds. It is situated less than a mile from the town centre on the A701 Dumfries - Edinburgh Road and is only 400 metres from the A75 Gretna - Stranraer road.
The house dates from 1924 and is unique in the area. It was completely refurbished during 2002 by its present owners but still retains all of its original charm and character.
The extensive gardens host literally dozens of rare and exotic plants and they co-exist with the local wildlife. We currently have red squirrels, hedgehogs and rabbits residing with us. We are currently working to re-instate our full size lawn tennis court which we hope will be ready for guests use in the near future.
All of our rooms feature state of the art en-suite facilities and first class furnishings, many of which are genuine antiques. Large remote control colour televisions with terrestrial and satellite access are a feature of all our rooms, as are the standard tea and coffee facilities, hair-dryers and shaver points. Irons, ironing boards and full laundry facilities are available on request.
For those wishing to carry out local research ie. tracking down ancestors homes or graves we can provide a car and driver with extensive historical and geographical local knowledge.
We are very flexible in respect of all terms and conditions and if you have a query, just ask. We are here to help and can generally comply with any reasonable request.
