Indulge in traditional toffee, made at the Moffat Toffee Shop from a family recipe since the late 1800s, or head to the Moffat Woollen Mill where you can browse some of the very best in Scottish knitwear. Their collection includes Arran for the chilliest days, and the finest lambswool and cashmere knitwear - you can even watch the weaver making the cloth for the products on traditional Hattersley looms.
The area is excellent for hillwalking on the local section of the Southern Upland Way and the nearby River Annan is great for fishing. This is also an excellent base for touring, offering easy access to the romantic town of Gretna Green, the market town of Dumfries and the beautiful Solway coast.
