There is so much to do in the park you could literally spend your whole holiday enjoying the fantastic on-site facilities. Relax in the heated indoor pool, challenge the whole family in the games room, test your aim at the target range, spot red squirrels from the squirrel hide or spend time on-site enjoying mountain biking and clay pigeon shooting or coarse, trout and river fishing. The Black Loch is well stocked with brown trout and Loch Ronald is renowned for its pike. Both lochs also have launch facilities, so why not bring your boat and enjoy sailing on the lochs?
The park has a well-stocked shop, a cosy café, a launderette, full disabled facilities as well as electricity, gas, mains water and drainage connected to each hardstanding, and well-maintained toilet and shower blocks.
The Galloway Forest Park is nearby and is renowned for its secluded 300 square miles of beautiful forest, its wealth of wildlife, majestic mountain scenery and two of the 7stanes mountain biking centres, Glentrool and Kirroughtree. At night, it is also one of the best spots in the UK for stargazing with the naked eye, as it’s the first Dark Sky Park in the UK and one of only two in Europe. Just a short drive will take you to the sandy beaches of Luce Bay or the rockbound coves along the coast, an area once famed as the haunt of smugglers and saints.
