Getting there from the Information Centre

From Stromness Tourist Information Centre take the A967 out of Stromness to Birsay. Keep on that road for approximately 12 miles, go around the Board House Loch until you reach the Barony Mill, turn right and follow our signs.

Getting there by Aeroplane

From Kirkwall Airport turn right out of car park, on reaching Kirkwall turn left on to Clay Loan then turn right at the bottom. Turn left at first roundabout then turn left at Ayre Mills Filling Station. Drive through Finstown and take the first turning on the right to Dounby/ Birsay. Go straight through Dounby following the road around the loch until you come to the Barony Mill then turn right and follow our signs.

Getting There by Ferry

From Stromness Ferry Terminal turn right off the boat to take you out of the town, then take the A967 to Birsay. Keep on that road for approximately 12 miles, go around the Boardhouse Loch until you reach the Barony Mill then turn right and follow our signs.
