Cringletie House Hotel

Cringletie House Hotel

Information enquiry Booking

You are always assured of a very warm welcome at Cringletie House, situated just outside Edinburgh. Nestled in 28 acres of woodland and gardens on the sloping hills of the Scottish Borders, this stunning baronial mansion has log fires burning in its elegant public rooms and the restaurant with its hand-painted ceiling. Culinary delights are coming from the skilled kitchen team and are enjoyed in this stunning dining room.

Everything is geared to providing guests with the ultimate comfort in stylish surroundings. Service is professional but informal and friendly. Service buttons in all public rooms act as they did in the old days: summon the butler for that cup of tea or coffee, or perhaps something stronger.

The hotel's bedrooms are individually decorated and all have glorious views over the gardens and rolling countryside. All have free high speed internet and a complimentary PC with internet access is available in the library.

The 400 year old walled garden is something very special. Allegedly the oldest walled garden in Scotland, it produces a variety of vegetables for the kitchen; it also has a games area as well as a seating area for quiet reflection.

The hotel is fully wheelchair accessible and has set aside a room specifically for guests with mobility problems and guests with impaired hearing.

Whether you want to visit Edinburgh's fascinating sights, explore the rich history of the Scottish Borders or just experience a touch of luxury and a taste of Scotland's famous hospitality, Cringletie House has it all!

DOUBLE DELIGHT
CRINGLETIE HOUSE AWARDED AA FOUR RED STARS AND ANNOUNCED SCOTLAND'S NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR IN THE WHICH? GOOD FOOD GUIDE 2007
It's been a week of double celebrations for Scottish Borders' Cringletie House. The luxury country house hotel in Peebles can now boast AA four red stars* after it was awarded the prestigious accolade on Thursday 5 October 2006 at the AA's 'Hospitality Awards for Scotland 2006 - 2007' at The Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh. The hotel was also named 'Scotland's Newcomer of the Year' in The Which? Good Food Guide 2007 published earlier this week on 3 October 2006. This makes Cringletie House the only hotel in the Scottish Borders to have been awarded such accolades.

The romantic baronial mansion is set in 28 acres of gardens and situated in the heart of the Scottish Borders only 40 minutes drive from the city of Edinburgh. Facilities include 14 en-suite bedrooms (with one four poster room) and delightful public rooms such as a cocktail lounge bar, library, stunning first floor restaurant, a conservatory, plus conference facilities. The grounds contain a 17th century walled garden with a 400 year old Yew hedge, plus activities such as croquet, putting and a games area with boules and giant chess set.

Johanna van Houdt, proprietor of Cringletie House, comments; 'We're delighted to be awarded the much desired AA four red star status and it was a double delight to be announced as 'Scotland's Newcomer of the Year' by the Which? Good Food Guide as well - it's been quite a week! Since 2003 we've been working hard to improve, restore and refurbish the hotel and grounds so we're thrilled that our efforts have been rewarded with such prestigious accolades. We'll continue to work towards excellence and to maintain our award winning standards.'
