Hoy Centre - Getting There

Getting there from the Information Centre

From Kirkwall T.I.C. go out of Broad Street on to Castle Street, turn left on to Junction Road and take the B964 to Houton ( 8 miles). From Lyness, turn right on to B9047 for 11 miles. Pass the sign for Rackwick, the Centre is on the left hand side, before the Moaness junction.
From Stromness T.I.C. turn right on to Ferry Road, 2.5 miles the take right turn to Houton 5 miles.
From Stromness T.I.C. turn left for ferry to North Hoy. The Outdoor Centre is 0.5 miles from Moaness.

Getting There by Railway

Scotrail from all Scottish departures to either Thurso or Wick or Aberdeen.

Getting there by Aeroplane

British Airways (UK) either from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Wick or Sumburgh (Shetland) to Kirkwall (Orkney).

To Orkney:

To Hoy:
Hoy Centre is a short walk from from Moaness Pier, the arrival point for pedestrians by ferry from Stromness. A car ferry operates from Houton to Lyness, details for both are available through Orkney Ferries 01856 872044. Minibuses and taxis are available on the island.
