Simple hostel in a stunning setting. This charming island, home only to crofters and fishermen, offers wonderful views of the mainland and the Isle of Skye. It is a Nature Conservancy area of extreme importance for bird watchers, botanists, geologists and archaeologists. Keep an eye out for otters, seals, porpoises, red deer and golden eagles. Walkers and cyclists enjoy unrestricted roads and paths all over the island. Mountain biking especially has taken off here since the introduction of the Raasay Rumble endurance race. Also worth a visit are Brochel Castle and the Raasay Outdoor Activity centre. For those who want to really find out about the history of this island, be sure to ask a local about ‘Calum’s Road’.
