Tongue Youth Hostel is a magnificently situated Lodge on the shores of the Kyle of Tongue. The Hostel has extensive views all round - among the best in Scotland.
A barren landscape littered with deep blue lochans and the stunning mountains of Ben Hope, the most northerly Munro and Ben Loyal, also known as the "Queen of Scottish Mountains" make a splendid backdrop to the Hostel. Out to sea there are views down the Kyle of Tongue towards the Rabbit Islands with their natural arch. It was here that the sailing ship Hazard ran aground on the reef off the Rabbit Islands in 1745 carrying gold and provisions for Bonnie Prince Charlie.
There are miles of pristine white beached where Grey and Common Seals can be seen basking on the sand banks. Many species of bird and plant like inhabit the moors and shore. Salmon and sea trout fishing are available on the Kyle of Tongue, with brown trout fishing on the lochs.
