Abbey Arms
The Abbey Arms is a small friendly family run hotel in the picturesque village of New Abbey, on the Solway Coastal Route. Positioned on the village square we are within walking distance of Sweetheart Abbey, Shambellie Museum of Costume and New Abbey Corn Mill.
The hotel is ideally located for a number of local activities including:
Golf - only seven miles from the famous Southerness Golf Club and within easy driving distance of another 20 courses - we can even arrange your itinerary and make bookings with the golf clubs on your behalf.
Cycling - we are ideally situated for touring by bicycle and for off-roaders. We are situated between Mabie Forest (3 miles) and Dalbeattie Forest (12 miles).
Bird-watching - positioned between the RSPB Reserves of Mersehead and Caerlaverock and only 40 minutes drive from the Ken Dee Marsh Reserve and the Red Kite Trail.
Field Sports - we can arrange wild fowling, course fishing, game fishing and stalking.
Walking - enjoy the unspoilt scenery in the area. There are a number of walks that start at the hotel - try Criffel and enjoy the views over the Solway to the Lake District and the Isle of Man.
If your interests are not quite so specific just come and enjoy the beautiful unspoilt scenery of Dumfries and Galloway.
At the end of the day enjoy a relaxing drink in our well stocked bar, mix with the locals and enjoy a home cooked meal in the Restaurant or simply relax in front of the fire in the Lounge Bar or Residents Lounge.
