Salmon Cottage is located in a quiet harbour overlooking a sheltered, sandy gently sloping beach. This very modern property has been designed and totally transformed in a contemporary style by local architects to capture the stunning views across the bay towards Edinburgh, and with fine 18 hole golf courses within walking distance it features all the stylish conveniences that a modern traveller would require to enjoy a memorable vacation in a tranquil location by the sea .
A second floor has been added to this ancient salmon fishers bothy to create exceptional views across the bay towards Inchkeith Island, the Bass rock and the historic city of Edinburgh. Just a few steps from the patios of this detached house will take you straight on to the clean, gently sloping sandy beach. There are no busy roads to cross therefore making it completely safe for the children to enjoy the beach and the foreshore.
Boats are a prominent feature around the seafront and you can watch a great variety of large or small vessels regularly sailing by. Telescope and binoculars along with a wide array of personal luxury items provided will ensure your enjoyment of this modern house on the beach.
Fife is the ancient home of golf and the nearby villages have two fine 18 courses within walking distance of Salmon Cottage and there are many more famous courses within easy driving distance, including the Royal and Ancient St Andrews courses.
The Fife coastal path can be accessed from Salmon cottage from where you can enjoy short strolls or longer walks, or cycle the full coastal path from the famous Forth bridges all the way round the coastline to St Andrews and beyond. If your very lucky you may catch sight of the huge sea eagles that have recently been re-introduced from their secret breeding grounds nearby. The nearby conservation area has been set aside as a site of scientific interest because of the extensive range of wildlife and delicate flora and fauna that exists all along the Fife coast. Many different varieties of sea and wading birds inhabit this coast where seals & dolphins are regularly seen swimming offshore.
Kinghorn has it's own small railway station and for less than £10.00 off peak you can travel by train stress free across the famous Forth railway bridge straight into the heart of Edinburgh where you can visit the ancient Castle and churches, Edinburgh Zoo, Sir Walter Scott's Monument, the Scottish Parliament Buildings, the newly refurbished national museum of Scotland or take in a show at the famous Edinburgh Festival or Tattoo. You can shop around on Princess Street and take in the sights of the Royal mile or just chill out and enjoy the many trendy bars, cafes and restaurants without the hassle of driving the car for the day. It's a great day out and you'll arrive back at Salmon Cottage where you can relax and enjoy a barbecue on the sea front and all weather patios to enjoy the sound of the waves breaking gently on the shore just a few feet away. The secluded all weather patio has evening lanterns, comfortable seating and many extras for your entertainment.
