The original MacDougall's Hotel circa 1950's
The MacDougall family originally owned and operated MacDougall's Hotel at 83 Church Street, from the 1930's up to 1974, when the property was sold and subsequently demolished. At that time, the present hotel's name was changed from the Clansman to the MacDougall Clansman to retain the family connection.
The original MacDougall Hotel's first floor dining room
From the 1930's to the 70's, the MacDougall Hotel was often used for functions. Many local Invernessians remember attending wedding receptions at the hotel, which were held in the first floor dining room.
