Cavens

Enjoy the tranquillity as you take a relaxing break at the historic manor house of Cavens Country House Hotel, which boasts connections to Robert Burns.
This charming country retreat benefits from the beautiful location, with 6 acres of peaceful landscaped gardens in the heart of Dumfries & Galloway. Cavens Country House Hotel is a historic property built in 1752 by Sir Richard Oswald, a personal friend of Benjamin Franklin, and privately owned by the Oswald family until the 1960s. The Oswalds were also known to Robert Burns, so the hotel makes a fitting place to stay as you venture out into the Dumfries & Galloway countryside to learn more of Scotland’s National Bard in the museums, houses and pubs which tell of his life.
Now owned by Angus and Jane Fordyce, the hotel boasts eight spacious bedrooms each with their own distinctive character and style, and spacious sitting rooms where you can relax beside a roaring log fire after a busy day sightseeing. Step into the hotel’s award-winning restaurant and enjoy a menu brimming with delicious local produce, and a fine selection of wines.
Take a peaceful stroll around the stunning gardens to soak up the Scottish air or travel the short distance to the Galloway Forest Park where you can spot a wealth of wildlife in its natural habitat or visit some of the many nature reserves in the area.
