This family-run hotel is proud of its personal friendly service, and its place in the record books as the world’s narrowest hotel!

At only 20 feet wide and 162 feet long, The Famous Star Hotel holds the distinction in The Guinness Book of World Records as the narrowest hotel but it still manages to offer an excellent and comfortable stay to all guests.

Dating from the late 1700s, the hotel has recently been refurbished to exacting standards. Each of the comfortable and stylish en suite bedrooms has tea and coffee facilities, satellite or full digital Freeview television and hairdryers. Children are very welcome and there is an indoor play area. Enjoy a pint of real ale, a relaxed lunch or a cosy evening meal at the hotel with its friendly restaurant and two bars. Tuck into some hearty home cooking and make sure you try one of our chef’s renowned steak, venison or chicken pie dishes.

There is much to do and explore in the area, including an excellent park, a fine 18-hole golf course, great fishing, fantastic walks and a well-equipped sports centre. For keen walkers, Moffat is close to the long-distance route, the Southern Upland Way, while there are many more opportunities, whether you’re on foot, on horseback, or touring by car, to explore the countryside and savour the picturesque scenery.
