Monreith Arms Hotel
The Monreith Arms Hotel has been the focal point of Port William for the past 300 years. With its colourful history as a Coaching Inn, prison and army barracks the hotel now offers a relaxing venue for a break, meal or a quiet drink. The hotel is situated in the heart of The Machars and offers and excellent base to explore this beautiful and often forgotten part of Scotland.
The hotel has 10 newly furbished bedrooms designed with our guests comfort in mind and each has its own private facilities. We have two special suites with a seating area and luxurious bathrooms with Jacuzzi baths - ideal for romantic breaks or honeymooners!
The hotel has two bars - a Public Bar, very popular with the locals and a Lounge Bar where you can have a quiet drink or a bar meal. Food is available from 12 noon - 2.00pm and 6.00pm - 9.00 pm (08.30pm in quieter periods). Breakfast is served in our Dining Room from 08.30 - 09.30am, earlier breakfast can be arranged.
In the surrounding area there is a huge variety of activities to be enjoyed for all the family. We are able to arrange any number of these and the hotel enjoys preferential rates with some. We can even arrange competition if you fancy a round of golf. Don't worry if you get wet we have a room where all your items can dry off.
The way of life is slower but don't let that stop you taking advantage of the extensive range of pursuits right on our doorstep:-
sea-fishing, coarse fishing, walking, cycling, golf, horse-riding, mountain biking, tank driving, off-road driving, clay pigeon shooting, explore Wigtown - Scotland's National Book Town or Whithorn the home of early Christianity .....or simply relax and let the world go by!
