Featured in the 2010 Good Hotel Guide and set in peaceful surroundings on the outskirts of Ballater, Royal Deeside, the Deeside Hotel is the perfect place for a Highland break. This small Victorian hotel is superbly placed for hill walking, fishing, riverside strolls or exploring the local castles, including Balmoral Castle and whisky distilleries. Local game and fresh seafood is freshly prepared by Gordon and served in our conservatory restaurant overlooking the walled gardens. After dinner you can relax in our welcoming lounge with log fires, real ale and a wide selection of malt whiskies.

The ten bedroom rooms are individually decorated and have en-suite bathrooms, direct-dial telephones, hairdryers, radio and television. Guests are welcomed with home-made biscuits, mineral water and freshly ground coffee in the room. Most bedrooms overlook the attractive walled gardens or surrounding hills. Two are on the ground floor and can accommodate a small wheelchair.

As part of the Cairngorm National Park, the area is renowned for its splendid scenery and offers the visitor opportunities for many outdoor pursuits including golf, hill walking, climbing, bird watching, trout and salmon fishing, gliding and cycling. Ballater is conveniently situated between the Ski area of Glenshee and the Lecht. It is also an ideal base from which to explore the Whisky Trail and the numerous Castles and Historic sites of Scotland's North East, including nearby Balmoral - the Royal Family's holiday residence.
