Burnhouse

Experience modern day island life in a new luxurious bungalow situated beneath the magnificent 1,500 ft Ward hill........
......with equally calming view down to Stromness and Scapa Flow.
Hoy is a wonderful retreat for the whole family, relaxing, exploring, fishing, walking and bird watchingwith 3,500 ha RSPB Reserve. Take an enjoyable walk to the Old Man, the well known stone stack or spend some time unwinding in Rackwick with its unique large pebble like boulders and beautiful sandy beach.
Hoy is the least densely populated of the Orkney Islands with a populatiion of 450. There is a general grocer on the island but many shop in Stromness by telephone and collect the goods from the ferry arriving at Moaness pier, only half a mile from Burnhouse.
You can see Moaness on the photo above the bushes in the foreground. The accommodation is non-smoking and there are facilities provided for dogs, no pets are permitted in the bungalow.
The bungalow was built in 2002, finished to a very high standard, is fully fitted with all modern equipment and is certainly comfortable and relaxing to experience.
There is even a distinct difference from mainland Orkney living to the tranquillity of the island. It would be an amazing experience of complete safety and freedom for any family, a cast away in comfort break from reality.
There are four bicycles provided for visitors and a full range of baby equipment to make travelling with young children less stressful. Bedding and towels are provided there are no extra charges for any of these facilities, or for electricity.
Burnhouse offers a large package of potential on a small island. Visit our web site, request a brochure ar just call us for more details on Hoy, Burnhouse and travel information.
