Practical Kitchens
Eat in or eat out. Methven village has two pubs which both offer food, and an Indian Restaurant which can do sit-in or take-away. There is an even greater selection in Perth and Crieff. Or try Gloagburn Farm shop - one of the best in Scotland.
Cloag Farm - what we do.
Cloag Farm produces malting barley for whisky, milling oats for porridge and oat biscuits etc. and some wheat which sometimes goes for animal feed, and sometimes is used for distilling.
We are members of the Scottish Quality Cereals scheme, and we have an annual inspection to make sure that we are producing food safely and in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner.
Perthshire is Glorious Countryside
Perthshire, or Big Tree Country has some wonderful countryside. Divided into lowland and highland Perthshire, it is like having two very different countries to explore within a very short distance.
The lowlands with rolling agricultural ground with rivers and trees are one of Scotland's most important areas for growing food, and especially soft fruit like raspberries and strawberries.
The Highlands are very spectacular with mountains, rivers and lochs. While the economy can be more fragile in these areas, this is where many activity and adventure providers are. If walking, climbing, whitewayer canoeing, canyoning, gold panning and perhaps sphereing (*) are what you are looking for, then head for the hills - they are never far away in Perthshire.
* Sphereing is rolling down a hill inside a very large clear and padded ball.
First snow on the Glenalmond Hills.
This is a view looking north taken from Cloag Farm. You can be walking in these hills within 15 minutes drive from the Farm.

The UK has banned smoking from all enclosed public spaces
We have found that increasingly our guests at Cloag Farm Cottages are non smoking themselves, and are expecting accommodation that is smoke-free. Cloag Farm Cottages have been completely non-smoking since January 2007.
People are finding that going into restaurants, bars, coffee shops, shopping centres and theatres so much more pleasant since the smoking ban was introduced in Scotland in March 2006.
And eating out in pubs is now a much more pleasant experience.
