Near by stands Kitcheners Memorial, which is situated on Marwick Head, with its huge colonies of breeding seabirds. Marwick Bay is a just a walk away. The Loons Wetlands where there is a RSPB hide at the roadside. Cliffs, Sea, Sky and Moorland are a delight for walkers and can make for a very peaceful or energetic holiday.
To either side of us there are Archaeological sites of great interest. A short drive away, of about 10 mins, is Skara Brae with Skaill House beside it. There is a lovely beach at the Bay of Skaill, while on the other side of us; at Birsay you get the Atlantic Breakers. Also at Birsay, is the Broch, tidal information is always at hand. Likewise, all of these aspects are a delight to both the Photographer.
There is free fishing in abundance.
