Getting there from the Information Centre
From Castle Douglas Tourist Information Centre, follow signs to Auchencairn, then turn on to Shore Road for 2 miles to car park, 100 metres past the entrance to Balcary Hotel.
Getting There by Railway
From Dumfries take the A711 road to Dalbeattie. Continue on the A711 to Auchencairn. Turn left on to Shore Road. Continue on this road for 2 miles to the car park, 100 metres beyond the entrance to Balcary Bay Hotel. Studio Cottage is round the corner on the lane leading to the beach, second door on the left.
Getting there by Aeroplane
From Glasgow airport, take the M74 Glasgow to the A701 to Dumfries. Then take the A711 to Dalbeattie and on to Auchencairn. In Auchencairn turn left onto Shore Road for 2 miles to the car park, 100 metres beyond entrance to Balcary Bay Hotel. Studio Cottage is round the corner on the lane leading to the beach, second door on the left.
Getting There by Ferry
From Stranraer take the A75 to Castle Douglas exit. Follow signs in town to Auchencairn. Turn left on to Shore Road for 2 miles to car park, 100 metres beyond the entrance to Balcary Bay Hotel.
