Morningside - Getting There

Getting there from the Information Centre

From the pier cross the Main Road to High Street, a few hundred yards turn left onto Castle Street, another few hundred yards and the street joins and becomes Serpentine Road. On the second bend ontoMount Pleasant Road, Morningside, is well signposted on the corner facing.

Getting There by Railway

From Glasgow, Bute is a remarkable accessible island only 65 minutes from Glasgow Central Station - the main destination point from south Britain and various parts of Scotland - to Wemyss Bay rail/ferry terminal to Rothesay 45 minutes, plus, a mere 30 minute ferry crossing to this palm fringed island the Maderia of Scotland, so called because of the similarity. Geographically of the approach to that tropical island.

Getting there by Aeroplane

From Glasgow Airport situated on the M8 motorway south of Glasgow allows easy access by car, rail, bus, via the Wemyss Bay to Rothesay Ferry (45 minutes). This Firth of Clyde crossing takes only 30minutes by car/passenger. Ferry operating a frequent service daily - a short journey by rail from Paisely Station by a connecting bus service from the airport to the train is an ideal alternative direct to Wemyss Bay/Rothesay.

Getting There by Ferry

From the Firth of Clyde ferry crossing at Wemyss Bay to Rothesay. The journey by modern car/passenger ferry operating a frequent service daily takes 30 minutes, arriving at Rothesay Pier a few stepstakes you to the taxi rank, bus terminal and right into the heart of this lovely Victorian town, dominated by it's mediaval castle overlooking the square and bustling harbour.
