Downanhill Cottage
Situated on a working dairy farm, approximately one mile from the village of Ballantrae, Downanhill Cottage is a former farmhouse dating back to the 1800`s.
The area is ideal for country pursuits and from the cottage itself there are spectacular views of Arran, Ailsa Craig, Mull of Kintyre and the South Ayrshire Coast. It is also possible to take a day trip to Northern Ireland from nearby Stranraer or Cairnryan. We have direct access down to the shore through our fields and guests are encouraged to walk freely on the land. They are also very welcome to visit our farm and see the cows being milked, calves being fed and generally take part as much or indeed,as little as they wish.
Downanhill Sleeps 4-6 adults. It nestles at the end of a private lane which provides great privacy for those staying there. It benefits from full oil fired central heating throughout, providing excellent accommodation all year round with the added facility of a games room for those rainy days.
Within the cottage, we have a large family room with a double bed and metal, spring action double sofa bed. A special feature of this room is the original cast iron fireplace, and beautiful views from the large windows.
There are two adjoining, single bedrooms which provide spacious accommodation for our guests.
We have a very comfortable living room with a three piece suite, television, vides, stereo and payphone. This is an area for you to relax and enjoy out homely atmosphere. There is a pleasant fully tiled bathroom, with power shower.
Our kitchen is fully equipped with full size electric cooker, fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and all crockery, cutlery etc.
We have a room suitable to be used as a drying room for walkers/fishing
gear which houses the oil boiler and tumble dryer. Accommodation for rods, tackle, bicycles etc is also available.
During the off peak season, weekend and mid-week breaks are available from £140.
For your convenience the cost includes all towels, linen electricity,and heating oil.
Downanhill Cotttage is a member of the Scottish Tourist Board walkers and cyclists welcome scheme. It also participates in the disabled visitors scheme and has suitable access for guests with mobility difficulties.
