Garden Cottage, Cupar, Fife

Garden Cottage is a beautiful, stone-built, traditional cottage, located on our farm in Fife. It overlooks fileds and paddocks, and has it's own lawn. It sits beside a liitle burn (stream) which runs into a nearby pond. Just to the right of the cottage is woodland. Wildlife abounds. We have resident ducks, and a heron, and visiting deer. Don't be surprised to look out of the kitchen window in the morning to see a grazing deer or stag. Pheasants are also regular visitors, and less welcome, you'll also occasionally hear the bark of a fox. The loudest noise you are likely to hear in the morining is bird-song! Although a passing tractor is a possibility.
The cottage itself has 2 bedrooms upstairs, - one double, and one twin, and a fully tiled bathroom. Downstairs are the sitting-room, dining-room, kitchen and separate WC. It has all been recently upgraded and redecorated, in keeping with the traditional appearance of the cottage.

The dining room at Garden Cottage

Garden Cottage is part of our small family estate on the outskirts of Cupar. The Estate has been in the Addison-Scott family for over 100 years. It is a peaceful little haven, and it's sometimes hard to believe it is actually so close to civilisation. It is just as beautiful in Winter as it is in summer - sometimes even more so!

Double Bedroom

The sound of running water is incredibly peaceful. The burn meanders through the Estate, running into the pond, then on through the gardens into the fields. There are no fish in the pond, but it is the natural habitat of our resident heron- Harry - and ducks. We always get ducklings in the spring/early summer, and it is a treat to see the little flotilla swimming behing their mum.

Kitchen

Fife Show is held in our front fields on the Third Saturday of May. This is far enough away from Garden Cottage not to be a nuisance, but is definitely worth a visit if your stay either starts or finishes on that Saturday. It is an amazing spectacle with agricultural animals, machinery, show-jumping and other country pursuits.

The cottage leads onto its own garden with picnic furniture, overlooking a paddock and pond. To the side there is woodland area with childrens play area, with swings, climbing frame and Little Tikes activity area.

Kinloss House

Kinloss House is our family home. We like to think of the cottage as an extension of the house, and the residents as our guests.

Fun and Perseus

These are our pet Shetland Ponies, fun and Perseus. They are very well bred - too well bred to actually do any work! But they look very pretty, and can be persuaded, sometimes, to come and say hallo to visitors.

Squirt in flight!

Squirt is our black cocker spaniel - not a rabbit, as it might look! She's jumping the burn near the cottage.

The Mount, Cupar.

The Mount is a local landmark, seen from behing Garden Cottage. It is accessible, and is worth a walk, though it is quite a climb.
