Rickwood House Hotel

Situated in its own grounds within the delightful village of Portpatrick, Rickwood House combines quality with comfort and good food with a warm welcome. We are a family run guest house with spacious rooms and are situated near the golf course, overlooking the village and the Irish Sea, yet only a few minutes walk from the centre of Portpatrick.
We were delighted to win the HotelReviewScotland 2008 Award for Scottish Guest House of the Year for a Warm Scottish Welcome
Built in Edwardian times as a home for the factor of Dunskey estate and his family, our house has been modernised to a high standard.
We have six stylish bedrooms, all with en-suite showers, some have baths also. Our rooms all have well stocked hospitality trays and some have dvd players.
Maggie is renowned for her home made shortbread, which is always available.
Our master bedroom was recently completely refurbished to create the "Factors Suite". This spacious room, features furniture crafted from reclaimed timber and works by contemporary Scottish artists. The suite has not one sea view but two having windows to the south and to the west - even the large ensuite bathroom has a view! There is also a comfortable seating area in the room where you can relax and watch a DVD or digital television. Fresh flowers and bathrobes are also provided. Just the room for that special treat.
Locally smoked salmon with scrambled eggs is always available as an alternative to the usual choice of fried items. If you prefer the traditional breakfast, we vary the menu slightly each day to provide a bit of variety. Traditionally prepared porridge is a firm favourite and we have a wide range of cereals, juices and fruit for starters. Fair Trade products available
For guests who prefer to have their evening meal with us, Maggie is an accomplished cook and has a diploma from Natural Cooking of Scotland. We offer a dinner six evenings per week. Sample menus can be found on our website.
We have a residents licence so that you can enjoy some wine with your meal or have a quiet drink in our conservatory or gardens.
For golfers, we can arrange discount at three local course.
The area is famed for its gardens, in particular Logan Botanic Garden, near which the series 2000 Acres of Sky was filmed. There are numerous other gardens nearby, and Scotlands most southerly point, the Mull of Galloway, only a short drive away, has an excellent visitor centre.
We are also ideally placed for a day trip to Ireland
Portpatrick has a beautiful harbour, stunning cliff paths, and is the start of the Southern Upland Way. It has bowling, putting & tennis and a wealth of gift and craft shops. There are restaurants to suit all budgets and often live traditional bands in the local bars
We hope you will visit our website for more details and that we will hear from you soon.
