Arthur Seat, a stunning dormant volcano, offers excellent 360 degree views of the city. This large park is excellent for walking, hiking and cycling and backs onto the Parliament, the Palace and Our Dynamic Earth.
The Royal Mile (High Street), book-ended by the Castle and Holyrood Palace, is home to museums, cafe's, traditional bars, restaurants and many one-off shops.
Parallel to the High Street are Princes Street, George Street and Queen Street. This area is the centre of the city and houses a wonderful collection of galleries, high street and boutique shops, and many wonderful restaurants and bars.
The Festival is held in August and features a variety of musical and theatre performances, comedy shows, and ad hoc live entertainment at over a hundred locations throughout the city.
