Killean Estate - Images
Spread over 4,000 acres on the west coast of the Kintyre Peninsula, Killean Estate encompasses over 1 mile of beaches, farmland, woodland, lochs, moorland and gardens. With dramatic views over the coastline to the islands beyond, you can even see as far as Northern Ireland on a clear day!
Whether its to relax or take part in the various local activities and sports we have available, we are certain you will not be disappointed with the stunning natural beauty that this part of the world has to offer.
The centrepeice of the estate, Killean House is an impressive Scots Baronial style Mansion, standing in an elevated yet sheltered position, providing fabulous views over the lawn down the hill towards the 'Sound of Gigha'.
Impressive enough from the outside, the interior of the main house is equally stunning and provides a glamorous luxurious setting, yet is still somehow cosy, peaceful and welcoming - the perfect countryside retreat! The property comfortably sleeps up to 20 people within 6 double and 4 twin bedrooms.
The gorgeous, grade A listed Dolls Cottages are exactly how you imagine a 'picture postcard' retreat to be! There are three available which sleep 4 people each in a double and twin room. The verandah to the front is the ideal place to sit in the evening and watch the sun fall behind the islands beyond the sea.
The views from the estate are quite simply stunning at any time of the day......... but come sunset - be prepared to be WOWed!
The Garden House is discreetly situated beyond the Main House within the lush woodland gardens, next to the walled garden. It houses two lovely apartments - Gigha on the upper floor which is an idyllic romantic retreat for two, and Cara which is perfect for a family of four.
Formed from the only surviving wing of the original Killean House, most of which was destroyed by fire, the interior of the Garden House retains many original features ' and what is now the lounge within the 'Gigha' apartment gains the benefit of the highly decorated ceiling, which was once housed within the billiard room.
Also a working farm, Killean has sheep, Aberdeen Angus and Highland cattle grazing on the land amongst the local wildlife which includes seals, sea-birds, deer, rabbits, pheasants, partridge, grouse, ravens, hawks, and many others.
The breathtaking views from the beach, over the 'Sound of Gigha' to the islands of Gigha and Jura is a most amazing sight and to be enjoyed by all of our properties!
Should you take to the hills, this is the view that will await you ........ looking over the clear turquoise waters of the atlantic ocean
The adorable Gate Lodge is located at the foot of the Main Drive, set within its own garden area complete with waterfall. Sleeping six altogether within a double and two twin rooms, it is ideal for larger families or those with older children who perhaps want their own rooms!
The gardens feature a variety of environments, from streams and waterfalls, wooded and grassy areas and even tropical plants! The Walled Garden provides a tranquil safe environment for children to play on the climbing frames and swings.
Complimentary trout fishing can be enjoyed on one the estate's lochs or from the beach, where you might also spot a seal, basking on the rocks.
Whether its a summer holiday to take advantage of the glorious outdoors, or a winter short break to de-stress those aching bones, you'll find a cosy welcoming atmosphere, here at Killean!
The impressive Georgian Villa House ..... so stately on the outside, yet so wonderfully warm and inviting on the inside! Sleeping nine in total, there is ample room for larger parties.
The tranquil atmosphere of the Villa's drawing room is a lovely, peaceful room in which to take in the simply stunning views of the coastline and islands beyond.
