Relax in this idyllic cottage in a woodland garden with wood burning stoves away from the hustle and bustle of modern day living.
Creature comforts are provided, but you'll be more interested in exploring the uncrowded beaches, cycling the quiet lanes and playing golf on one of nine courses within an hour's drive.

Ravenstone Mains Cottage provides a peaceful country retreat in a rural hamlet within 16 acres of woodland and gardens.

The cottage offers the ideal base to explore the Galloway region by car, bike or on foot.

We are within easy reach of four beautiful uncrowded beaches, Wigtown's Book Town, Whithorn and the Isle of Whithorn. Within an hours' drive are 14 gardens and 9 golf courses. Walkers can try parts of the Southern Upland Way or spend a day exploring the Galloway Forest Park. Some of Scotland's best fishing rivers are nearby, while bird-watchers will enjoy the variety of species that visit the Wigtown Bay Nature Reserve and our back garden.

On site, guests are free to amble through our woods and relax with a BBQ in the garden surrounded by the scent of honeysuckle and roses that drape across the front of the cottage.

We renovate the cottage on an ongoing basis - upstairs has been repainted in autumn 2008. The kitchen offers modern conveniences - dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave - with classic country features - airing rack, stripped dresser and wood stove.

There is a sofa bed in the living room in case you have visitors, a stripped wood floor, antique dining table and wood stove.

Two bedrooms (one double, one twin) provide sleeping for 4 and offer views of an enclosed courtyard garden. Non-allergenic duvets and pillows are provided with linen. The bathroom includes shower and bath and towels (except for beach towels) are provided.

We also own the Ravenstone Deli in Whithorn - voted in the Top 5 Deli's in the UK by the Independent newspaper in August 2008 - you can order a breakfast hamper from there for your arrival or picnic hampers during your stay for a small fee.
