A spacious self-contained apartment in a historic waterfront Victorian villa, on Rhu point at the entrance to the Gareloch
Set in a private road off the A814 with your own separate entrance and private parking. Beautiful gardens and spectacular views, south to Rhu Bay and the Clyde, and north over the Gareloch to the Arrochar hills. Close to Loch Lomond National Park (10-minute drive), Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Hill House, and numerous golf courses. Rhu is a great centre for walking, from a gentle stroll on the shore to a strenuous day in the hills.A wide area of west and central Scotland is accessible in a day's driving or cycling and we can help with tour planning. Glasgow and Edinburgh are within easy reach for a day trip, as are Clyde ferries and the world famous West Highland railway line which runs through Helensburgh to Oban or Fort William and Mallaig.
Accommodation comprises an entrance hall, double bedroom, fully equipped kitchen including washer/drier, shower room/toilet, and a large lounge/dining room with open views south over the garden. Central heating throughout with a "coal-effect" gas fire in the lounge. Digital Freeview TV with DVD player, radio/CD player. Gas-fired barbecue and a garden dining area.
Rhu Post Office, the village shop and the pub are within a 3-minute walk and Rhu Marina is a 5-minute walk. Helensburgh, a 5-minute drive away, has a full range of shops and services and a wide choice of pubs and restaurants.
A half-hourly bus service from Rhu connects with trains to Glasgow (about 1hour by bus/train) or on to Edinburgh (a further 50 minutes). Glasgow is a 45-minute drive; the M8 motorway at Erskine Bridge is reached in 30 minutes, and Glasgow International airport in about 35 minutes. (Prestwick 80 minutes). Taxis are readily available.
Unfortunately the flat is not suitable for children and we cannot accommodate pets.
