Gatehouse itself is host to many excellent facilities such as the Golf Course, Mill on the Fleet Visitor Centre, shops, restaurants and pubs. For the more active, walking is a popular pastime and the national cycle route goes through the village. Within a short drive you can explore the countryside and seaside. Popular Visitor Attractions include Cream O'Galloway famous for their home made Ice Cream and you can even have a go at inventing your own flavour! Visit Kirkcudbright known as the Artists town, or travel further afield to the famous Wigtown Book Town.
