The Bothy at Number 7 - Getting There

Getting there from the Information Centre

From Portree Tourist Iinformation Centre follow the A855 Staffin road for around 2km. Turn left when you see the Achachork sign. The Bothy is almost 2km along this road on the left.

Getting There by Car

From Skye Bridge A87 follow signs to Portree. Bear right into the village on the A855 and follow signs for Staffin. Around 2km out of Portree turn left at the Achachork sign. The Bothy is almost 2km along this road on the left.

Getting There by Railway

The world famous Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh line will take you through the heart of the Highlands to its terminus near the Skye Bridge. There is a bus service from here to Portree where a taxi or hire car can be arranged.
Or try the steam train (May - Oct) from Fort William to Mallaig and catch the ferry, the proper way to start a Hebridean holiday.

Getting there by Aeroplane

Inverness Airport is around 2.5 hours away by hire car via Loch Ness. Glasgow Airport is 5 hours away by car or a little longer by direct coach service to Portree.

Getting There by Ferry

You can still come over the sea to Skye by travelling the Road to the Isles to Mallaig and catching the ferry to Armadale in south Skye. Cars are now carried throughout the year, but please check. If you are adventurous and really want to avoid the Skye Bridge turn off the A87 at Shiel Bridge and follow the signs for the tiny Glenelg Ferry (summer only) to Kylerhea in south Skye.
