Within ten minutes easy walk of Carlingwark Loch, a mile from the National Trust Threave Estate and Gardens, and centrally situated in Castle Douglas, Douglas House is the perfect base from which to explore this quiet and unspoilt region. Varied inland and coastal scenery, interesting wildife and a rich history make this the ideal all year round location.
Douglas House is a spacious and comfortable home, perfectly located within 200 yards of the centre of Castle Douglas and close to the Tourist Information Centre. It offers guests the opportunity to relax in comfort and to enjoy modern facilities together with a generous breakfast, most of which is sourced locally.
We have three double en-suite rooms, two of which are on the first floor and have king-size double beds and modern en-suite shower facilities. The third room is a large ground floor room fully adapted for disabled visitors, with either superking-size or twin beds. The modern en-suite has both bath and shower and our fourth room is a small single with modern en-suite shower, also on the ground floor.
The dining room is light and airy, with individual tables and there is a generous relaxing lounge area with books, maps and magazines to enable guests to plan their activities. Guests are welcome to use the lounge any time.
Friendly but unobtrusive service is offered, and we aim to make your visit to this very beautiful but remarkably unspoilt area of the country memorable.
