Cawdor House,close to the town centre of Nairn, and within easy walking distance of the beach.The house is an elegant stone built Victorian family house, detached and set in delightful walled gardens.It is an ideal location for exploring the Highlands,being 16 miles from Inverness and 8 miles from Inverness airport. This guest house offers a warm welcome, with comfort and quality being a priority.Mairi and Paul will give all their visitors a trully Scottish greeting.All food served will be locally sourced and if at all possible free range- we pride ourselves in the choice we give our guests at breakfast.After enjoying the magnificent scenery of the Higlands and the Moray Coast or after a game of golf on one our two championship courses, why not relax in our comfortable lounge and enjoy a tea or coffee with some of Mairi's home baking. When the nights are cooler sit next to our warm log fire. We want our guests to feel at home,and when it is time for them to leave our parting words will be "haste ye back".

Nairn has extensive facilities for the visitorst with 2 championship golf courses,an excellent indoor swimming complex, a sports centre which includes several hard (floodlit) tennis courts,2 bowls clubs,fishing,cricket and football.

There are also wonderful sandy beaches with views across to the mountains on the Black Isle, boat trips from the harbour to see the famous Moray Firth dolphins, and extensive woodland walks.

Local historic attractions include Cawdor Castle, a taste of Scotlands medieval past made famous by that Scottish play, Shakepeare's MacBeth. Culloden Battlefield, the site of the last pitched battle fought on British soil, ending Bonnie Prince Charlie's hopes of the throne in 1746. Fort George, a mighty military fortress and home to the Queens Own Highlander museum. Brodie Castle, owned by the National Trust of Scotland after 700 years in the Brodie family. Randolph Leap,enjoy a leisurely stroll along the banks of the river Findhorn, and browse the curios at nearby Logie Steading.

Slightly further afield but within an hours drive through the most breathtaking scenery you can explore any of the following within a day.Urquhart Castle,on the banks of Loch Ness. Take a boat trip and try to see the famous Loch Ness Monster. Across the Moray Firth is the magnificent Dunrobin Castle and gardens on the North Sea coast at Golspie. Watch the salmon jumping at Rogie Falls or shop in the new Harrods store at the Falls of Shin Visitor Centre.

Head west right across the Highlands to Eilean Donan Castle and then spend the day on the Isle of Skye.Explore Glen Affric, the most spectacularl Glen in the Highlands,the last remaining part of the ancient Caledonian Pine Forest, home to Red Deer, Red Squirrels, Pine Martens and Golden Eagles.

Go eastwards on the Malt Whisky Trail of Speyside, visit the historic Abbey and world renowned Johnson's cashmere centre at Elgin.

Southward bound you will find the winter skiing resort of Aviemore,where you can take a ride on the funicular railway. Visit Ballindalloch Castle, family home of the MacPhersonn-Grants since 1546.

During your stay why not research your family history through the special geneaology department at Inverness Library. You could have a framed family crest made for yourselve. Take back heraldry and fond memories of the Highlands of Scotland.
