Pentland Lodge House - Images
Pentland Lodge House, set in a quiet residential area, is only a few minutes stroll from the centre of Thurso and overlooks the sandy beach of Thurso bay. Our beautiful, old, listed building is situated just off the main road, west, out of town and convenient for the ferry at Scrabster. We have a large car park for guests.
The atmosphere is relaxed and the welcome is genuinely warm. We look forward to having you stay with us.
Thurso recently hosted the O'Neill World Surfing Championship.
One of the main surfing areas is at Thurso Bay.

Helpful when the sunrises before 4am in the summer.
Organised tours are available. Whatever your interests are we can help you make the most of your visit. For example we have a fantastic local photographer who can take you to some great places to capture some of the best atmospheric conditions in the country.
Most tours will include minibus trips around the county tailored to the interests of the participants. This could range from the distant geological past through to the natural landscape of the present and including all the "must see" sights such as the Castle of Mey and John O'Groats.
Here are some of the highlights of our tours.
Birdlife abounds with craggy cliffs home to many species of sea birds. The unique "flow country" or peatlands has many unusual plants with insects providing food for many birds.
Dolphins, whales and seals are regular visitors to the seas around the coast and can be spotted from land or boat.
Peat cut and dried over the summer months continues to be used by some locals for fuel.
Look for fossils at one of the working quarries.
The herring fishing industry, once a bustling trade, helped shape the county.
Men and, more often than not, women landed their herring catches carrying laden baskets up these precipitous steps.
Of course we also visit the Castle of Mey, Old Pulteney Distillery, John O'Groats and not to mention a day on Orkney. And much more!
We can also help you if you want to explore yourselves. There are daily guided walks led by the Highland Ranger service and many self-guided walks too.
Cyclists can enjoy open roads with little traffic.
We can also arrange other activities such as golf and clay pigeon shooting.
Make it a holiday with our discount offers for 4 or more nights. Discounts are only offered on bookings made directly through our website or by telephone 01847 895103.
We look forward to seeing you.
