Eileagan is a magnificent, spacious Victorian villa situated on an elevated location overlooking Dunoon and the Clyde estuary. The house has been tastefully and professionally renovated over the past three years and now offers comfortable accommodation complemented by welcoming and attentive service.

Rooms
Eileagan has three comfortable and spacious rooms both with complimentary refreshments and television, hair drier and kettle.
Clyde is a beautiful double room with large windows looking out to the estuary (sea views) with its busy traffic of ferries, sailing yachts and cargo and cruise ships. The large en-suite bathroom, with bath and shower, was formed from an adjacent bedroom and has been designed and decorated in peaceful and relaxing colours.
The Rowan is a double room with lovely views over the town. It is accessed via an individual stairway to a private wing which consists of the bedroom and a large private bathroom, also with bath and shower. The room and the bathroom are also designed and decorated in a style which complements the ambiance of the house.
Gantocks is a twin room with sea views and a private shower room.
Dunoon and Cowal
Dunoon is the main town servicing the Cowal peninsula and parts of Argyll, “the seaboard gateway to the Scottish Highlands, including the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.” Arrival by either of the two ferry routes provides spectacular views up Loch Long to the “Argyll Alps” and down the busy Clyde towards Goat Fell on Arran.

Similarly attractive is the land route from Glasgow and Loch Lomond either over the Rest and Be Thankful, or from Argyll and the West through Inveraray, down the east coast of Loch Fine to Strachur, then skirting the dark mystical Loch Eck (passing the famous Benmore Botanic Gardens) exiting at the Holy Loch and on into Dunoon.
Argyll and the Cowal peninsula have an abundance of dramatic gardens dating as far back as the 13th century, owing their botanical beauty and diversity to the many Scottish explorers, botanists and philanthropists who travelled across the globe in search of “new” specimens. At the Botanic Gardens different species of rhododendrons flower from spring through to autumn; magnolias and azaleas vie for colour and aromatic magnificence and giant (and smaller) conifers cohabit with native and introduced deciduous trees.

Eileagan provides the ideal base from which to either relax in the garden and watch the ships go by or to get out and explore this beautiful corner of Scotland by foot, bicycle, car or boat.
Activities
Walking/ Hill Walking
Turn right from Eileagan’s driveway and you start on a web of walkways and forest roads which cover much of the Southern part of the Cowal peninsula. A pre breakfast amble will take you round the trout reservoir in Bishops Glen, a twenty minute woodland stroll.
Cycling
The walkways described above from Bishops Glen also provide bicycle access to the forest roads south and west of Dunoon. The road south of the town offers a pleasant, relatively flat cycle through Toward then following the shoreline of Loch Striven, a remote area with a few farms nestling on the lochside hills.
Dunoon is also an excellent centre for Touring, Sailing, Fishing, Golf, Scuba Diving, Wildlife and Highland Games (the world-famous Cowal Games take place in Dunoon every August).
