Broughty Ferry is a great place to stay for a holiday or visiting friend and relations in our self-catering accommodation. Traditional fisher cottage (built 1825) near the seafront. One double bedroom on the ground floor and an attic room (low ceilings) with two single beds. Also ground floor living room, kitchen and shower room. Central heating throughout and all home facilities provided along with towels and linen. Near to all transport links, shops, pubs and restaurants in beautiful Broughty Ferry, Dundee premier seaside suburb which still retains its village atmosphere. The cottage is close to the harbour and the sandy beach. Dundee is 4 miles away by a frequent bus service.
Broughty Ferry is Dundee’s premier suburb. It nestles in a superb location on the estuary of the river Tay. On one side of the castle there is Broughty Ferry’s sandy beach which has blue flag status – one of only 6 in Scotland. On the other side there is the picturesque harbour and a stony beach along Beach Crescent leading to the pilot pier.
Originally a small fishing village, this part of its history can be seen in the quaint fisher cottages on the banks of the river. Its ancient castle guards the mouth of the Tay.
Broughty Ferry has a village atmosphere with many independent specialist shops but there is more to "the Ferry" as its main shopping street also hosts the larger chain outlets including a Marks and Spencer Food outlet.
Golfers basing themselves in Broughty Ferry will find themselves central to many of the world's most famous golf courses.
Along the river there is a rich variety of interests. From a leisurely walk in the fantastic Barnhill Rock Gardens to more active pursuits of open water swimming and sailing. For those who favour indoor activities Broughty Ferry is famous for its pubs and restaurants. From the traditional old, low-ceiling pub to the most modern of restaurants the Ferry has them all.
