The Douglas Arms is the ideal place to stay and dine in Castle Douglas. A former coaching Inn dating back to 1779, the hotel has been tastefully modernised to meet the needs of today’s traveller whilst still retaining many original features, making it the perfect base for a great holiday.

Owned and operated by the McLaren Family since February 2006, the hotel extends a warm , friendly welcome to all.

All 22 rooms are fully en-suite and have been recently refurbished. All are equipped with TV, Radio, Hospitality tray and a good range of complimentary toiletries. A Luxury Double room with 4-poster bed and en-suite Jacuzzi bath is also available for that special occasion.
‘Pamper Breaks’ are available in the Luxury Double room with the use of Bathrobes and Slippers throughout your stay and your choice of treatment from our In-House Beauty Therapist. (Subject to availability and appointment times).

Parking is available free of charge in the courtyard to the rear of the hotel and is locked at night to provide a secure area.

The hotel is renowned for its fine dining and the Wallace Restaurant offers generous helpings of home-cooked Scottish fayre and uses fresh ingredients from local suppliers, including Galloway Beef and some of the many ‘local brews’ from the Sulwath Brewery across the road, in the mouth-watering steak pie.

The restaurant also has a play area for children so that parents can eat in peace while the children are kept amused.

The St Andrew’s Lounge bar is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a drink or a light snack at lunchtime with its large comfy sofas, informal atmosphere and cosy Log Fires in Winter.

There are also a range of rooms available for functions or meetings. Whether it is a small private dinner or a large conference, the hotel can tailor a package to suit your specific requirements and liaise with you and chef to create the perfect menu.

The hotel can also offer a large, secluded Beer Garden to the rear of the hotel. Completely enclosed on all sides, it is extremely sheltered and can be almost tropical on a good day, as well as providing a safe area for children to play.
