Dundas Castle is a five star Exclusive Use Venue and is the family home of Sir Jack Stewart-Clark and his wife Lady Lydia. Set deep in the heart of 1000 acres of beautiful countryside, yet only 20 minutes from the centre of Edinburgh and 8 miles from Edinburgh airport, Dundas is known as the Secret Castle; some of the locals are unaware it is there!

Built in 1818 by the renowned architect William Burn, the castle has belonged to the Stewart-Clark family for the last century or so. Uniquely combining the grandeur of a castle with the warmth of a family home, Dundas provides exceptional service and facilities that will leave a lasting impression on all of your guests.

The Auld Keep was built in 1416 for the purpose of being both a home in times of peace and a fortress in times of war. Throughout the tower, there is a selection of rooms, all with historic features, creating a unique ambience. These are ideal for a dinner, a meeting and with the breathtaking Great Hall it has the perfect location for a romantic wedding ceremony. For dining, the Stag Chamber enhances a Medieval Banquet for up to 20 people.

With a fairytale spiral staircase and original 3 foot thick walls you’ll feel like you have been transported back to the 1400s.

The main Castle has 3 reception rooms, each with its own character, providing a different atmosphere for you to enjoy. From the silk walls and real log fire in the Library, to the openness of the Drawing Room, and the Billiards Room full of memories in the form of photos and antiques enjoyed by the family over the years, each of you will have your own magical experience. The Croquet Room, with its rich art work and breathtaking views across the estate is perfect for a dinner with up to 60 of your guests. For larger numbers, the Pavilion Marquee on the lawn provides an exquisite location for a dinner for up to 180 people.

With its floor to ceiling windows and built in dance floor and stage, you can dance the night away against the backdrop of the floodlit castle.

The spacious Pavilion Marquee may also provide a blank canvas for a meeting or team building activity.

By combining the luxury of the house with Dundas Castle’s extensive grounds, you have the ideal venue for a variety of activities. The purpose may be to get to know your colleagues, to learn a new skill, or simply to have fun being active on the estate.

Many of the traditional pursuits are available to you, including our own 4x4 course, Clay-Pigeon arena and Quad Biking. The lawns in front of the castle are perfect for hosting many other activities such as Highland Games, falconry and archery. Surrounded by 1,000 acres, it is easy to get away from it all and you may find yourself in the heart of the estate, taking in the fresh Scottish air and enjoying the Woodland Walks or spending time in the Rose Garden.

There is no better end to your days at Dundas than spending the night in one of our fourteen bedrooms. Each room is decorated in a timelessly elegant style, featuring antique furniture, original paintings and beautiful fabrics. Designed by Lady Lydia, who is an accomplished interior designer, the rooms contain silverware and personal items that date as far back as 1901. Many of the bathrooms still have the original bathtubs that fill up in 30 seconds! The rooms are located throughout the house and offer you a variety of views from the charming courtyard to the immaculate lawns of the estate.
