Allonby Cottage, Kippford - Images
The cottage was built originally in 1896 and consisted then simply of a “two up and two down.” The Kippford front and Allonby Cottage were clearly photogenic back then and feature on many post-cards through the years. We think it kept its original shape until 1975, when a local doctor purchased it, and added the large kitchen, a further bedroom, a workshop and re-directed the stairs. We’re reliably informed that dynamite was used to blast out the Kippford granite to clear room for the kitchen!
The sitting room has lovely views out over the Urr Estuary and beyond to the Galloway Hills.
Comfy sofa and arm chairs, books, TV with DVD and stereo make this a great room to relax in.
The Sitting Room opens out in to a porch, to the front of the house, with chairs and an even better panorama of Kippford and beyond.
The shaker style kitchen is bright and airy looks out on to the garden.
It has all you need and contains a dining table large enough for a full house
Gas hob, electric oven, microwave and fridge/freezer. Highchair available.
This is a lovely and light room to the front of the house. Double bed with built in wardrobe and chest of drawers. This room has great views out across the Urr Estuary.
By using just this room, with its attached WC and the downstairs shower room the Cottage becomes intimate enough for a couple to enjoy.
This is a delightful room that is ideal for two children or two adults sharing. The view speaks for itself!
