Stonehill Cottage lies in the Duneaton Valley on the edge of the Southern Uplands of Scotland, near the village of Crawfordjohn. A traditional stone-built cottage, renovated to a high standard, with an enclosed garden and a south facing conservatory providing a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside.The cottage offers a peaceful rural setting on our working farm, with easy access to major roads making it an ideal touring base for exploring Central Scotland, day trips to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dumfries, Carlisle and the Ayrshire Coast are highly recommended. The accommodation comprises of one double bedroom, one twin bedroom, living room with sofa bed and wood burning stove, bathroom, large kitchen/dining room, utility room, toilet and south facing conservatory with panormic views of the unspoilt countryside.
There is a fully enclosed garden for children and patio area equipped with BBQ.
Ideal for walkers with nearby access to the Southern Upland Way, Tinto hill, the Lowther hills, Camps and Daer reservoirs and plenty of easy walks from the farm, we have seven miles of track around the hills. The area supports a considerable variety of birdlife including Lapwing, Curlew, Red Shank, Snipe, Buzzard, Hen Harrier and many more.Local tourist attractions include Wanlockhead Lead Mining Museum, Drumlanrig Castle, New Lanark Conservation Village, The Falls of Clyde and The Biggar Museums.
The nearest towns are the ancient market town of Lanark (22 Miles) with its links to William Wallace and historic New Lanark Mills and Biggar (16 miles) home of Albion Motors and with its High Street full of individual shops, both towns have a good range of pubs and restaurants.
