Hello and welcome to our home on the beautiful Isle of Arran, open all year.

From here we would like to offer you a short tour of our home and the Isle of Arran.



Woodlands View Bedroom

Woodland view bedroom,kingsize bed.

Woodland view bedroom has a kingsize bed and a fully fitted ensuite bathroom. From the side window you can see the Firth of Clyde and the mainland,with a variety of ships, boats and even submarines passing in the distance. From the rear window you share the woodland with many types of birds, red squirrels and occassionally red deer. This bedroom can accommodate two adults or a couple with one child. Please call for details.



Glen view Bedroom

Glen view bedroom , comfy double bed with memory foam topper and en suite shower room.

Glen view has a wonderful view of Glencloy and across the Firth of Clyde to the mainland.In the spring time you can watch the hares boxing in the fields and occasionally red deer grazing. Pheasants, buzzards and owls inhabit the glen.

Our Breakfast/lounge room

After a peaceful nights sleep, in your comfortable bedroom in which toiletries and fluffy white towels are provided ,your breakfast is served in our breakfast/lounge area. An extensive choice is available, locally sourced wherever possible.This will include yogurts,fruit (from our garden in season),Arran preserves,cereals,local bakery products from Woolleys bakery,and sausage and bacon from Galbraiths butchers in Blackwaterfoot.Our own little hens which are free ranging provide the most delicious eggs you have ever tasted.Children-and big kids- are welcome to help collect the eggs !

Relax with a tea or coffee and enjoy the view,peace and quietness.

Lots of outdoor activities available locally if you get fed up of relaxing, so remember your walking boots .
WALKS ON ARRAN
GLEN CLOY - Stroll up the glen,head off to the mountains to the north or the forestry track to the south.
GLEN ROSA - A one hour stroll or a testing hill walk.
BRODICK CASTLE & GARDENS, MERKLAND & GOATFELL - Breathtaking views.
FALLEN ROCKS - Pleasant walk on reasonable footpath to this geological feature.
LOCHRANZA TO COCK OF ARRAN.
LOCH TANNA - 4 hour. Walk to the island's largest loch through Glen Catacol.
STONE CIRCLES, MACHRIE MOOR - Easy walk with many archaeological sites.
KINGS CAVE - Beach and cliff walk to where Bruce watched the spider.
KILDONAN SHORE TO BLACK CAVE - Seashore walk and scramble.
GLENASHDALE FALLS - forestry walks north and south. varied and interesting.



Auchrannie Spa Resort is just an 8 minute walk away from The Barn B&B and has three Restaurants.
It is situated at the foot of Glencloy

The Auchrannie Spa Resort includes a fitness suite & studio,sauna, steam room and solaria, aromatherapy,beauty salons,shop,games hall which can be set up for tennis, badminton , and many other games ,20x8.5 meter Indoor Swimming Pool, Childrens Pool with water features,Juice Bar. Also to the rear of the resort visit Arran Adventure for various outdoor pursuits. All these available to non residents as are the restaurants and bars.

A short but beautiful walk from The Barn alongside the Cloy burn - carpeted in flowers in the spring, and returning on a farm track. There are fine views to the amphitheatre of hills at the head of Glen Cloy. Or why not do some mountain biking in Glencloy, climb North West from Cnoc Na Dial forestry car park along the forest road,this then descends into the head of Glencloy to a picnic bench at a ford. 2 miles. A short stretch of singletrack continues to the forest boundary.

On 8th of August 2009 it will be the Arran Highland Games .Five pipe bands will be appearing at the games,The Red Devil Freefall Display Team. and all the traditional track and heavy events are programmed-the junior caber tossing competition will now be open to 14-18 year olds and basic coaching will be available on the day. Entry to the games is £2.00. The children's races, with the Highland dancing competitions commence at 11.30am. At the end of the day ALL the pipe bands will be playing as they march along Brodick front to the pier .Here they will play for the crowd for about 30 minutes before piping the visiting pipe bands away on the ferry. Accomodation fills quickly for the busiest weekend of the year , so book early !

Goatfell draws thousands of hill walkers to the island every year.The Arran rambler is indeed spoilt for choice. Away from the lure of the hills,the Coastal Walk is 100km long and, in the main, uses existing paths following the shore.It is ideally suited for walkers of all abilities and can be spread over 7 days.

Brodick Bay & Ferry terminal

Ride around Arran by bus. The bus terminal is next to the Brodick ferry terminal.So just take an open top bus for an island tour or take one of the many service buses for a trip out.Click below for more infomation



Kildonan is at the southside of Arran

Kildonan with its stunning coastline. Walk on by Killdonan Post Office and Shop along the beach and sit and see the seals playing and relaxing. If you are lucky, you might spot dolphins or possibly even a basking shark - occasional visitors to these waters.

The Isle of Arran Distillers, whose whisky is unique is situated in Lochranza. Arran Brewery, based in Brodick is also worth a visit.

There's lots for the family on the Isle of Arran. Why not try Tennis,bowling,putting,pony trekking,cycling,mini-golf, the adventure playground at Brodick Castle,Balmichael Visitor Centre or a relaxing day on one of Arrans's beaches. Through the year are many interesting and special events to attend including .Family concerts & ceilidhs, open acoustic sessions and regular live pub gigs, fell races,highland games and much much more.

Get Active. Horseriding and treking are available from two centres around the island with facilities ranging from short rides for children to rides into the hills.If you're looking for a challenge why not try out Paragliding or quadbiking? Tuition and equipment are available on the island. alternatively go fishing, play Golf, or even go diving.
