Balgonar is a small estate incorporating a family-run mixed farm and several acres of woodland as well as an attractive walled garden and a duck pond. Balgonar is mentioned in a Royal Charter of King James IV and is still marked on the map. The cottage was originally built for the estate chauffeur in the mid nineteenth century and was later extended. The Bothy which occupies one corner of the farm steading has just been total rebuilt and newly furnished.
This rural haven is an ideal base for touring Scotland, visiting Edinburgh Festival or playing golf. There are up to 40- courses within day-visit distance.
The Cottage
The traditional stone-built cottage, which is set in its own pretty enclosed garden, boasts unusually spacious accommodation all on one level. It has a large open log fire as well as an oil-fired central heating system and double-glazing throughout.
Uninterrupted views of the rolling hillside are enjoyed from the sitting room and master bedroom. Deer and the occasional wily fox venture from the glen in the quiet of the early morning and cattle and ponies graze the hills.
The Bothy
Delightfully spacious self-contained studio Bothy with double bed and a sofa. This makes into twin beds if it is to be used as a family room. Additional comfortable chairs, dining table etc.TV. Entrance through well-equipped brand new kitchen.
