These luxurious self-catering holiday cottages are nestled in the heart of the beautiful National Trust for Scotland’s Threave Estate and surrounded by fantastic countryside.
Set midway between the internationally renowned Threave Gardens and the magnificent historic ruins of Threave Castle, the Old Exchange is perfectly located for exploring many of the region’s treasures. An architect-designed conversion, the property consists of four self-catering holiday homes for parties of three and four. Each provides a lovely mixture of old architecture and contemporary interior styling with bright south facing living rooms with TV, CD and DVD player, stylish open-plan equipped kitchen and dining areas and stylish bedrooms. A welcome pack awaits your arrival with a selection of provisions including freshly baked rolls, fresh milk and cheese, and linen, towels and soap are also provided.
Set in pleasant farming countryside, a nature trail runs at the side of the property which takes you to one of Scotland’s most romantic castles, Threave Castle and stunning Threave Gardens. Just a few miles from the Solway Firth, there are rugged coastlines, dramatic cliff-top walks and wonderful remote beaches to discover. A hillwalker’s paradise, the scenery and hills around nearby Castle Douglas are breathtaking, with the cottages situated in the middle of some of Scotland’s most impressive forests - Mabie, Ae and Dalbeattie - as well as the famous Galloway Forest Park. Dumfries is also close-by where you can explore and learn more about the Scotland’s national bard, Robert Burns, and his life in the region.
